why won't i gain any experience on world of warcraft?

i am a nightelf hunter and just recently became level 20 and acquired a mount, ever since them my character won't gain any experience points, and i even completed a few quests and still no experience points. idk if this has anything to do with it but i am playing on a 10 day free trial. please tell me what i need to do to fix this, thanks.
