How do you control minions as a warlock in World of Warcraft?

i am a lvl 10 warlock with demonology and im trying to control my minions, it says pets when i go to spells and it says things i can click like stay, follow, move there, and some other things but it never does anything i try and tell it to do, how do i control my minions so that i can get them to attack enemies and move where i tell them, etc,
