Default Hunter or Warlock in World of Warcraft?

My main currently is a Hunter. He is level 85 and is currently raiding Firelands. However, I'm very much into PvP and Hunters are in a very bad spot there. Have been pretty much the entire game. Trap mechanics are bad and minimal range screws them over. However, I know Hunters CAN be good, they just have to far out-play the opponent to win usually.

I've been leveling a Warlock for a few weeks now. Currently level 65. My guild has agreed that if I can get him geared up, I can raid with him instead of my Hunter. My question is, are Warlocks pretty decent in PvE and PvP? It's really the only other class I'd consider other than Hunter as I prefer to be range and I find Mages extremely boring.

I really enjoy the Hunter class other than traps and minimal range. I love being fast-paced and the burst damage. Would I be better off just staying a Hunter or leveling up the Warlock?

Warlocks got screwed over in Cata. If you really want a PvP Class go for mage. But out of Hunter and Lock I'd say go for lock.. Cause you are right Hunter has to have insane skill to down classes like Warrior's Rogue's Ferals etc. Tbh I've played mage and good hunters are a pain in the *ss.

Good luck with it tho.

I've played both classes in both FL raids and Rated Battle Grounds/Arena's as well as regular PvP, both very very different classes, Hunter's are incredible when played correctly, however they are very difficult to play due to lack of self healing and as you mentioned the dreaded dead zone. High burst damage and alot of survival. Warlocks however are different, can be high damage using destruction however this is dead as a PvP spec nowadays but afflicition Warlocks spread there damage over numberous targets making there overall damage MASSIVE in any Battlegrounds and then of course theres the added CC and ridiculous self healing, however they lack burst. My advice to you would be to try both obviously and see which you prefer personally I'd go for Hunter. Also one to try may well be a total role change and go for DK
