I don't only raid. I enjoy pvping (which is very balanced now) and doing arenas. I have spent some time doing Archeology and working for Sulfuras on my main every week. I usually do something else like dailies or arch or troll trade when waiting for queues. It's not wow's fault that nobody wants to tank....
And raiding is easy...for paragon. If you havent done all heroic content then your just talking out of your @$$.
Quests are solo but much more in depth surrounded by storyline and phased events instead of "kill 5 guys and kill the named dude).
Yeah it was fun years ago because you didn't know what the hell you were doing and everything was new. Also, we tend to remember all the good things about the past and not the bads (like spending hours to get attuned to MC or the Ony Quest chain or spending hours to just do a 10-15 man instance (in my opinion that was not fun, just time consuming and frustating.)
Go ahead and quit wow if you don't enjoy it. I personally think RIft is going to be a wow clone and like the MMOs before it (aion, warhammer online, etc.) It will probally end up being a breath of fresh new air, but will end up comming back to wow eventually...
Any game will be boring if you only do a portion of the things your able to do. Its like playing oblivion and not doing any quests...your going to get bored eventually.
Oh well, best of luck, hope you enjoy Rift and Crysis when they come out.
On an off note, I will probally spend much less time playing wow once Skykrim and Diablo 3 comes out. =D
