How good are shamans for melee dps (WoW)?

Default How good are shamans for melee dps (WoW)?
can they be just melee or will that fail and you need to be ranged. I know you need that spec that I cant remember the name right now.

With the release of the new expansion, Cataclysm, melee or Enchancement shaman do much better in both PvE and PvP. They have much more utility. If you want to play one, now is a very good time to. Triple hits from Windfury ftw!
