Yes i have 2 lvl 85 characters i plan to start pvping with. A lvl 85 paladin and a lvl 85 rogue. At the moment i am having trouble picking between the two on which one to main. I was planning on pvping as ret for the pally and subtly on the rogue.

depends if you have sucky team mates than use the rogue cause its a thief but if you have good team mates use the paladin

For 2 v 2, 3 v 3, or 5 v 4 it depends on class and spec. 2 v 2 I'd go with a rogue, possible disc priest or mage is always a nice viable comp. As for 5s or 3s maybe Paladin, as holydin or retadin and go warrior/DK/Rettadin in 3s, always a nasty good comp.

Basic Answer: Rogues are in a good spot at the moment in PvP. I would suggest them.

Consider these questions and information:

1) Which class are you more experienced with, and which class do you prefer?

2) Are you more - experienced with/good at - ret or sub? (Ultimate question)

3) With which character will I be the most successful?

If by pvp you mean arena (or battle grounds & arena)...

4) What friends/people do you have to play with? What are their classes/specs?

Team composition is crucial to success, and the arena ladders on battle.net show that there are far more _holy_ paladins populating the top 100 2v2, 3v3 teams than ret. Rogues occupy a good niche in all three arena categories.

Knowing this, perhaps you'd be more successful as a rogue for arena. The # disparity might be credited to the difficulty in advancing with a team that includes a ret paladin (rather than another dps class). Or perhaps there are just fewer teams with rets because holy paladins are favored/healer shortage.
