Default World of Warcraft Rogue- need help on keeping threat down in instances.?

This is my first toon on WoW, and I'm a 78 rogue. I didn't really do a whole lot of instancing up until I hit lvl 70, and so I need some input.

I am having a hard time keeping my threat levels down sometimes, and a lot of the time I can't tell which mob the tank is hitting, in order to keep from pulling mobs to myself.

I use "feint" but I never notice a decrease in threat when I use it. Also- my damage compared to the rest of the party always seems to be the lowest, or close to it. I think a lot of this is due to trying to keep threat down, but I'm not sure.

This happens in most all instances that I am in, so I'm pretty sure the threat problem is my own, and not the tank's.

Any suggestions on how to not suck in instances would be very appreciated. Thanks!
Is it normal to be low on the scale for damage done as a rogue? Isn't that their whole purpose, is to do a large amount of damage?
