Default WoW: Use of Flash Heal in raid?

My class leader in my guild is insistent that I limit the use of my flash heal, however, I feel that he is incorrect in his opinion of flash heal. I have taken the empowered healing and serendipity talents, as well as having the glyph of flash heal. My over-healing in raid is usually hovering between 8-12% depending on fights, and typically of that percentage flash heal is about 40-50% followed by both PoH and CoH in almost equal amounts. So I understand that FH is most of my over-healing, but I find it to be way more mana efficient than GH and I don't have to spend as much time playing the "beat the global timer game." Plus, the haste gain for GH and PoH seems to make it more useful. I used to have the Embrace of the Spider trinket equipped but have since replaced it with Energy Siphon and Illustration of the Dragon Soul, so I no longer have the haste proc from that trinket.
Your opinions would be most beneficial Thanks in advance to all who help!
