I started playing WoW right before TBC came out and I got to enjoy being a mage in the era of the sheep/chef specialist. Not only that but I didn't start pvp'ing until season 3 and 4, missing the glory of PMR in season 1.

Eventually I got my account banned on the forums for complaining about our uselessness on the dps charts in PVE. So about 3-4 years ago I called it quits, right before the new expansion came out.

Apparently mages are better? It's what I've been hearing.. apparently enough of us quit that they decided to buff them some. How are mages these days? In the top end raids can they come close to competing against warlocks, rogues, and hunters?

yeah mages are good, fire is the best, back b4 cata came out at end of wotlk it was arcane. and from what i hear frost is kinda good now, idk my mage is only lvl 48 so i can't really tell you much.

mages, hunters, rogues and dks are at the top of the dps charts, if they know what they're doing obviously

No offense, but if you were sucking it up on the DPS charts in pve, its because YOU sucked, not because mages suck.

All classes have the potential to top the dps charts. They all always have. Even before, during, and after TBC. All through Burning Crusade I had a friend who was leveling a mage, and he always topped the dps charts by miles. The rest of us struggled to come even close to keeping up.

So odds are you sucked, not the class itself.

Mages were one of the top DPS last I heard.
