hey
First Aid, Fishing, and Cooking are what is known as your secondary professions. You can still learn all of them as well two other primary professions. You can only learn two primary professions along with the first aid, fishing, and cooking. So if you want to learn Tailoring, then learn it and learn one other primary profession like leatherworking, blacksmithing, mining, skinning, enchanting, herbalism, alchemy, inscriptionist, engineering. I have several level 80 toons. my advice to you if you are new to this game is, first aid is easy to max out, but fishing and cooking are not. But as you level and you start doing dungeons and raids, fishing and cooking will definitely come in handy. For one you will be able to do what is called dailies everyday to make some money and to earn some rep as well with several factions in the game. Secondly if your cooking is high level, you will be able to make is called buff food, not just for you, but for you party as well. Party being the people that you are doing a dungeon or raid with. The buff food is really important when you start doing these dungeons or raids as well as questing. I mean you get buff food that will increase your stamina, or mana, or attack power, or spell power, or overall stats for so many minutes or hours, depending on your level and the level of your profession. So cooking is very important. Also as you are leveling your toon and your professions, you can make money as well from the stuff that you do make. There are some people out there who dont take the time to do any professions at all and they either have to spend their money to buy the buff foods, or the potions, or the armor, or weapons, whatever unless you belong to a real good guild that will provide you with what you need. Good luck going that route, because the good stuff that is really worth making required alot of, what is called mats, which are the items that you need to make the stuff. And most of the mats are very hard to get a hold of unless you want to spend your money on the stuff. But it just depends on what you want to do with your toon. If you just want to quest and get to 80, then go for it. You will realize somewhere along the road how important you secondary skills are. I have several 80's, one being a alliance night elf hunter. He is maxed in his leather working, skinning, first aid, fishing , and his cooking. So i can pretty much make anything. Although you find out that there are certain patterns and recipes that you can learn but you can only acquire them from doing certain raids or dungeons and they never drop all of the time. I mean you may have to do that dungeon over 30 times before the pattern or recipe you want drops. so just keep that in mind. Ok good luck with WoW.
