WoW - Can't decide which profession to choose?

I'm a gnome mage, and I'm doing tailoring and enchanting, but atm, it isn't beneficial to me. My enchantments are terrible, and although I'd eventually be able to make useful things, it's difficult to acquire essence and fabrics.

Should I stick with it, or try something else?
