Race doesn't matter too much in this game; it's personal preference. I mean the racials aren't game changing and it is up to you to choose which race you want to look while playing this game. But for a nice starting area and double trinket, human would be a great choice.

For leveling, your best bet would be to quest all the way to 85 and breeze through the zones (would be faster with heirlooms). If you want to do instances (dungeons), you can either tank as protection specialization (instant queues), heal as holy (few minutes queue), or dps as retribution (long queues but you can quest while queuing for a dungeon). But you shouldn't ever pvp if you want to power level because even if you win in battlegrounds, you still get less exp than either questing or dungeons. So...

Dungeons: excellent gear; great exp if there are quests, but bad if there aren't; gold is not very much
Questing: average gear (greens and some blues); great exp all around; pretty good amount of gold
PVP: DON'T DO IT if you are focusing on leveling

If you level nonstop (via questing, dungeons, etc.), it might be boring to you. To keep me from not getting bored, I add in professions, chatting with friends and guildies, running pvp premades with guildies, running instances with guildies, and take breaks <<most important.

Hope I helped.

go with a human prot palli till you get about 30. Yes you will have to tank if you want to level fast. Tanks get into dungeon ques in minutes.after 30 switch to ret if you want. If you dont want to tank or want that responsibility, go with a ret palli. Being dps you will wait long periods of time to get into ques. But pallis are the fastest to level and easiest in my oppinion. Quests on alliance are alot faster and easier than horde.

Woah why does it matter what race? Jk haha when I played years ago I liked nightelves gnomes and the cowpeople (sorry I forgot what they're called). Do lots of quests.

I've never actually played and Alliance Pally, but I hear they do lvl better than most Horde Pallies. I would probably say Human race (they have better racial spells that help). Just do quests until you reach lvl 10, then run dungeon after dungeon until raids become available. You're going to get bored no matter what race/class you pick. It's inevitable, lol. Just focus on getting geared up. I'm sorry, but I can't remember the different specs for Pallies (I havn't played WoW in a few months), but the one I'm thinking of that would be best is the one that does healing the least (unless you want to be a healer, then the opposite applies). If you really get stuck, look around on wowhead.com or Google "Best Paladin for World of Warcraft" and see what you find. I'm sorry if this isn't much help.
