Need help with WoW performance?
A few days ago I was playing WoW, on semi-ultra settings, with absolutely no problems. It was running at about 55-60 FPS on those, it didn't affect latency either. Since then, I have download the full version of Minecraft, and was hooked on it for about 3 days. After I overcame my obsession and only had about a week before moving to a dormitory on campus grounds, I wanted to get some playing time in on WoW. As soon as I made it to the log-in screen I could identifiy problems, including frequent pausing of the mouse, and the animations skipping, as well as the audio. I initially ignored it, and logged in as usual. When I did, it was difficult to so much as move. I figured it was slow because the program hadn't been run in a while, and went in the kitchen to grab something to eat, when I came back, the lag had improved, but was still terrible, bouncing between 8 FPS and 30. I sighed, logged out, and disabled all of my add-ons. Came back to find out, it didn't help at all. Then I dragged all of my performance settings to the lowest possible setting, reloaded the UI, and still nothing. I closed WoW, and checked my programs list to see what, if anything, was running in the background that could be causing this. Couldn't find anything, but ended a few things to see if it would help, but alas it did not. I then restarted my computer completely, and ran WoW again... But was frustrated to recognize the same problems as before. I cleared my WoW cache, even DELETED my add-ons desperately trying to get the game to operate properly, but nothing worked. I've put a lot of work into my Minecraft, and refuse to delete it, unless ofcourse as an absolute last resort -- if it's what's causing it. After installing Minecraft, I did however update my graphics driver, as it refused to run without a later version. Even when this stands out as the obvious reason, I honestly don't understand why updating a driver to a later version of the exact same model could cause problems. Also, I cannot downgrade my drivers to a later version without completely uninstalling them, so I could only troubleshoot with Intel and hope for a solution. One odd thing about this problem though, when I click and hold down the mouse while hovering inside the WoW window, the lag just disappears. It's strange and makes no sense to me. Any help is completely appreciated and not ignored, thanks in advance.
