On World of Warcraft I got hacked... All my gear was taken from me. I know the guy who took it and he gave it to his friend who is now using it for his own personal use.... He even sent me a screenshot of all my gear on his character, but blurred out his character name.

So I was wondering: is there any way for blizzard to trace my armour to whoever has it and get it back for me? And possibly ban the player? This seems a bit confusing, so ill use an analergy:

Can say me, go and hack my friends account and steal his gear. Once I've done that, can he go to blizzard and have them trace the gear back to me and get it back plus have me banned?

If Blizzard wants to, they can investigate every sort of activity that takes place over the game.

If you are telling the truth and this is really what happened, and you're a completely innocent victim in this scenario, then report this to Blizzard asap.

Blizzard is basically able to track every kind of transaction and conversation ever held over their servers, so if what you say is true, then an investigation will show all this. The likely result is that they will return all your lost gear as well as anything else that may have been taken.

Gear is soulbound once you wear it, meaning he could not be wearing your gear. You need to open a ticket and let them know your account was compromised. Blizzard is able to see who accessed your account and also see if the gear was vendored or destroyed. Once a compromise is established Blizzard will usually replace the missing items. I also HIGHLY suggest you change your log in information and not share it with anyone in the future.

You may be out of luck on this one but you never know.

I would file a report with Blizzard and see what comes of it - ask to speak to a GM and he might give you some advice.
