Hey all, I have been wondering something recently

A few months ago my WoW account password got changed and I had to go through tons of admin to get it back and secure..... And that got me wondering:

What if my WoW account password was changed, but then at the same time the hacker got hold of my email password and changed that too, then I would have no proof that the account is mine and no way to get back my comprimised account?

And just today my fear came true and exactly that happened. Both my passwords changed and now I'm totally left in the dark

Is there anything I can do?

You need to contact Blizzard. You need to scan your system using something like Malwarebytes and you need an authenticator.

Go to a neutral computer (one that you do not typically use) and first contact your email provider and let them know what happens. After you recover that account, put a gnarly password on it, I'm talking something you have to write down, that has nothing to do with you 12 characters at least.

After you have your email secure, then contact Blizzard and have them recover your account to you and IMMEDIATELY put an authenticator on your account and change the password. Once you return home to your computer, do a complete virus scan and wipe your email inbox before you even try and get on WoW or anything else. If you still feel insecure or that possibly the problem is still present I recommend you do a system restore and wiping your HDD. It's a pain in the ass, but you don't want to keep doing this.
