I have played WoW for ahwile but i have recently become bored of it since Cataclysm. I'm looking to try out Rift and I am a mage player in every sort of MMO or game I've ever played. I'm a huge fan of the WoW mage class because it is NOT a pet class and has a ton of CC, but still pretty good damage if you set up correctly.

Obviously, I don't want Necromancer/Elementalist although I'm fairly sure those are going to be the best Solo classes due to pets, but i don't want a pet. From what I've looked at, it seems the best way to recreate the WoW Mage would be something like Pyromancer/Dominator. What do you guys think? Im also open to all advice =)
