A few weeks ago, i clearly remember being able to change pets without visiting a stable. I hadn't played for a year, so it was new to me, but I did not need to visit a stable to change pets. If I remember correctly, I could change between 4 pets and any more would require a stable. Suddenly, I can not figure out how to change pets. I can add a new pet, but as soon as I die I am left with my old pet and can not figure out how to change it. Have I gone crazy, or did it change with Cataclysm.

It changed with Cataclysm, to change pets you must first use Dismiss Pet (if you have a pet out already). Then use Call Pet, ideally on your action bar, because once you reach level 18 (and learn Call Pet 2, which 'upgrades' Call Pet) it now opens a sub-menu to choose which pet you want to summon.

If you have not played for a while, you may need to talk to a Stable Master to set the pets you want in the correct slots.
