Rogues are honestly not much good for raiding from what I've seen but fantastic for PvP. They can be very fun to play but are all about burst DPS.
Hunters, on the other hand, have some pretty fun and unique mechanics. They are very flexible and can be one of the best raiding RDPS units, with the bonus of melee damage from pets. My guild leader is currently leveling a hunter and he says it's one of the most fun toons he's rolled.
That said, both share a weakness of lacking an AoE attack for many levels. This can make solo questing difficult so one of your best bets is to partner up with a mage if rogue or feral druid if hunter... or just run dungeons.
