I have been at a big division I school for 2 years and would like to go to a small school and walk on to the football team. From what i believe, even though I'm going to be a junior next year I will still have three years to play football. I was told that once you enroll as a full time college student your "clock" starts. Even though i didn't participate in football my 5 year clock started for eligibility to play college football. Is this correct or could i actually get 4 years? Also, what would i be considered? a freshman (just not a true freshman?) athlete?
